Faith, Innovation, and Impact
Reflections from Mark Morris at APRIL’S NORTHWEST CENTER CONNECT MEETING & SEMINAR

At Nehemiah’s Monthly Connect Meeting on Saturday, April 25th, we had the privilege of hearing from Mark Morris, co-founder of Logix Biosciences. His story brought together faith, business, and a deep desire to serve people through innovation.
What stood out most was the clarity of purpose behind his work. His journey is not driven by opportunity alone, but by a sense of calling.
A Calling Lived Out in the Marketplace
Mark shared how his background as a missionary shaped the way he approaches business. Before stepping into the world of startups, he and his wife served in the Amazon jungle. That season formed a perspective that continues to guide him today.
He spoke about learning to respond quickly when God leads. In his own words, it is far better to say yes right away.
That mindset carried into his involvement with Logix Biosciences. What might look like a career move on the outside was, for him, a step of obedience.
Working with What God Has Already Provided
The company’s work centers on developing plant-based medical solutions, particularly through the use of Manuka honey. Their goal is to make their natural properties usable in new ways that support the body.
Mark highlighted a growing concern in global health. Antibiotic resistance continues to rise, and the pace of new developments has slowed significantly. This has left a gap that needs thoughtful solutions.
Their approach is to study what already exists in creation and apply it carefully. There is a sense of responsibility in how they handle this work, recognizing it as something entrusted to them.
Trusting God in Unconventional Decisions
One of the more memorable moments from his talk was when he described being told not to take investors after stepping into a role focused on raising capital.
From a business standpoint, that decision is difficult to explain. From his perspective, it was simply obedience.
Instead of pursuing traditional funding, the company moved toward alternative options such as debt structures and grants. That path has required patience and a willingness to move forward without immediate results.
Even so, the company has continued to grow, expand distribution, and move toward regulatory approval.
Walking Through Ongoing Challenges
Mark was open about the realities of building a company in a complex industry. There have been delays, financial pressure, and moments where progress felt slow.
He described the experience as constantly addressing one issue after another. Still, his response has remained steady. He returns to the same conviction that God placed him in this work and will continue to provide a way forward.
That kind of perseverance does not come from ease. It comes from trust.
Using Technology with Clarity and Purpose
Another area he spoke about was the role of artificial intelligence in their company. They are actively using it across multiple areas, including research, marketing, and communication.
One example he shared was a significant increase in sales after using AI to better target customers.
When asked about concerns surrounding AI, his response was straightforward. It is a tool. The outcome depends on how it is used.
That perspective removes much of the fear and replaces it with responsibility.
An Invitation to Participate
The session also included a clear invitation. Mark encouraged those present to consider how they might support the work.
That support could take many forms. Some may pray. Others may connect him with the right people. Some may choose to invest or open doors in their own networks.
There was also a simple challenge given to the room to take a step within the next 30 days.
This reflects the heart of the Nehemiah community, where people come alongside one another to build, support, and grow together.
In Conclusion
Mark’s story is a reminder of what it looks like to follow God in the marketplace with consistency and conviction.
He has stayed committed through uncertainty. He has continued to move forward when the path was not always clear. And he has held onto the belief that God is actively involved in the work.
For those building, leading, or stepping into something new, his example offers encouragement. The process may take time. There may be setbacks along the way. But faithfulness in each step matters.
And in the end, the work is never ours alone.
