WHEN BUSINESS AND MARRIAGE COLLIDE
Since tying the knot on May 13, 2006, Robert and Kay Lee Fukui have devoted their shared passions and business expertise to helping entrepreneurs and couplepreneurs grow stronger—both in marriage and in business. Together, they created the innovative consulting program, Power Couples by Design™, equipping married entrepreneurs with the tools to build a thriving relationship while cultivating a prosperous business.
ROBERT & KAY LEE’S STORY

As a three-sport athlete growing up in California, Robert learned early the power of teamwork and perseverance through improbable victories. These lessons laid the foundation for a highly successful career in sales and marketing. Over the course of his career, he has been directly responsible for generating more than $150 million in sales and has spent over 25 years leading global product launches and earning multiple sales and leadership awards for renowned brands, including Coca-Cola, Novartis Pharmaceutical, and Bristol-Myers Squibb.
As the child of a business owner, Kay Lee’s formative years revolved around the family feed store, where she worked throughout college and witnessed firsthand the cost of making business the top priority while family time took a back seat. This early experience shaped her entrepreneurial journey, which includes earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business, working in the banking industry, and later serving as Ambassador President for the Alhambra Chamber of Commerce.
When Robert and Kay Lee joined forces as a power couple in 2006, their marketing consulting work expanded as they helped entrepreneurs build companies focused on long-term profitability and sustainability. Along the way, they noticed a recurring challenge. Entrepreneurs and couples in business often tried to separate work from home life, believing the two could remain independent. In reality, what happened at work followed them home, and personal challenges inevitably showed up in the business.
The Problem
Through their own journey and years of working with business owners, Robert and Kay Lee saw the toll this imbalance takes. Long hours and constant pressure strain both marriages and businesses, leaving many couples succeeding professionally while struggling personally.
The Solution
This insight led to Power Couples by Designâ„¢, a framework created to help work and home function in harmony. By blending corporate best practices with the relational heart of family businesses, Robert and Kay Lee equip married entrepreneurs and couplepreneurs with practical tools to strengthen both their relationship and their business.
Your marriage and business can grow stronger together, empowering you and your spouse to build a thriving marriage and a prosperous business side by side.
