LoOKING BACK ON OUR RECENT STAFF RETREAT
The second Staff Retreat of 2025 saw Nehemiah Staff from all over the world come together for three days (May 12 – May 14, 2025) to reflect and discuss issues pertaining to the ministry. The staff set aside time to meet virtually for the retreat.
As an organization with the mission to build Kingdom businesses globally and the vision to transform the marketplace with the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, one entrepreneur at a time, it is important to us that we do not stray away from this sacred mission and vision. These Staff Retreats we have every quarter ensure that we do not stray away and continue to be aligned, not only with one another as staff but also with God.
Our Staff Retreats are purposeful and intentional, highlighting and addressing key matters of utmost importance to ensure the organization continues to go from strength to strength. This edition of the Staff Retreat was no different. Each day highlighted a major part of the organization, beginning with Marketing & Sales on day 1, followed by Training & Coaching on day 2, and lastly, Member Care on day 3.

DAY 1
Day 1, like every other day, began with worship followed by a time of prayer. This edition of the Staff Retreat saw three different staff members sharing a devotional each day. Samantha Lau delivered the devotional on the first entitled, Navigating Changing Times. In it, she encouraged us to decide today how we want to respond to change the next time it comes. After the devotion, the staff present engage in a breakout discussion to reflect on their takeaways and how they can apply the lessons to their lives. A breakout debrief follows. Patrice Tsague then presents the Marketing and Sales report, which transitions into a SWOT analysis for Marketing, focusing on identifying the top three urgent or crucial areas and strategizing how to address them. After a break, breakout discussions resume to explore what the Marketing SWOT means for each department and how team members can contribute to the success of Nehemiah’s marketing strategy. Another breakout debrief follows, and the session concludes with a time for takeaways and a closing prayer.
DAY 2
After worship and prayer, Ruben Lai shared a devotional that dives deeper into the topic of Navigating Changing Times. With Hebrews 2:1-2 as a Scriptural reference, he shared the 5 keys to navigating changing times. This is followed by a random breakout discussion where the staff present reflect on their takeaways from the devotional and consider how the lessons can be applied to their lives. A breakout debrief follows to share insights and key points. Brian Buhler then presents the Training and Coaching report, leading into a SWOT analysis for the Training and Coaching department. The staff work on identifying the top three urgent or crucial areas and brainstorm actionable strategies to address them. After a short break, breakout discussions resume, grouped by department, with Training & Coaching combined with Finance. These discussions focus on the implications of the Training & Coaching SWOT for each department and how individuals can contribute to the success of Nehemiah’s strategy in this area. A final breakout debrief is held before the session wraps up with a time for takeaways and a closing prayer.
DAY 3
The third day’s devotional was delivered by Catrina Ooi. She took over after worship and prayer to dive even deeper into the topic, Navigating Changing Times. She masterfully laid out the 4 important elements that are required in order to change. The staff present then move into a random breakout discussion to share their takeaways from the devotional and reflect on how the lessons can be applied in their lives. A debrief follows, allowing the groups to summarize key insights. Samantha Lau then presents the Membership Care report, leading into a SWOT analysis for the Membership department. During this segment, participants identify the top three urgent or crucial areas and collaborate on potential solutions to address them. After a short break, breakout discussions resume, organized by department, with Training & Coaching combined with Finance. These discussions focus on the significance of the Membership SWOT for each department and how individuals can contribute to the success of the Membership strategy. A final breakout debrief is held before the session concludes with takeaways and a closing prayer.
As an organization, Nehemiah is blessed with exceptional individuals who have been called and equipped to do God’s work in this ministry. Although the road ahead is uncertain and trouble will inevitably come, we rest easy knowing that we are in God’s good hands.
