7 Purposes of a Kingdom Business Plan

Kingdom Business Plan

Planning is essential to business success. Benjamin Franklin once said, “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.” The exchange between Alice and the Cheshire Cat in Lewis Caroll’s book, Alice in Wonderland, has been recapped in the famous quote, “If you do not know where you are going, any road will take you there.” Planning is about taking control of your business rather than letting your business control you.

What is a Kingdom Business Plan?

Planning is about taking deliberate steps on paper to minimize the mistakes you will make in the execution of the business. It is hard work and requires collaboration with your team members (i.e., staff and partners) and a guided framework with a business coach or consultant to ensure success. Kingdom business planning is different from traditional or secular planning.

Kingdom business planning considers elements that reflect the will of God for your life and how the business will intentionally advance God’s will on earth. It is about tapping into the mind of God and capturing the direction He wants you to follow or the blueprint of what He wants you to build.

Your Kingdom Business Plan must reflect a quadruple bottom line: how your business will impact people, the planet, its profitability, and eternity. In short, a Kingdom Business Plan is a transformational document that articulates the blueprint to develop a transformational enterprise.

It captures your history and experiences, your business priorities and goals, your overall strategy, your Kingdom impact, and your expected financial outcome. A Kingdom Business Plan is a detailed explanation of what was (your history and calling), what is (business formation, strategy, financials, and kingdom impact), and what is to come (vision, long-term goals, and exit strategy).

The following are the seven purposes of a Kingdom Business Plan:

  1. To serve as a guide for operating the business
  2. To raise money
  3. To keep investors, directors, and employees informed and in one accord
  4. To prevent and minimize the unnecessary and unwise use of money and other resources
  5. To keep you focused and on the mission
  6. To ensure that you carry out your values and priorities and make a Kingdom impact
  7. To ensure that you finish what you start
