I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, – Ephesians 4:1 |
Do you know that there is a way to determine if your business is aligned with your calling? But first, what is your calling in the context of Business Entrepreneurship?
It is no different than your calling as a Christian. Your calling in Business Entrepreneurship is God’s specific instruction for your life as a Biblical Entrepreneur.
Jeremiah 1:5 reminds us that we had been set apart for a specific purpose – a calling/unique assignment that only you can fulfill, and Romans 8:28 reminds us that God works for the good of those who have been called according to His purpose.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” – Jeremiah 1:5 (NKJV) |
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. – Romans 8:28 (NKJV) |
Is your business aligned with you calling?
Bearing in mind that you are set apart for a specific purpose – Biblical Entrepreneurship – and that God rewards you for following your calling, isn’t it reassuring to know that there is a checklist you can use to determine if your business is aligned with your calling?
Here is the checklist:
- What is your drive/inspiration for starting your business?
- Was it love for God (John 3:16) or love for others (Matthew 22:39)?
- What is your purpose?
- What is your assignment here on earth [Matthew 28:18-20 – The Great Commission]?
- What are your gifts, skills, and abilities?
- Do your spiritual blessings, special expertise, and power and strength granted by God due to your faithful stewardship match your calling?
- Does your business address a clear market need, and has this need been addressed with specificity?
- What specific product and/or service is being provided through your calling?
- Through your mission statement, is your business aligned with your calling?
- Should your mission be realized, will your vision have been attained? If yes, what would the business look like, and what impact would it have on the community/nation?
These are the seven questions that you need to answer as a Business Entrepreneur to determine if your business is aligned with God’s specific instruction for your life as an entrepreneur.
