“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” – John:16:33 (NIV) |
IMPACTFUL HIGHLIGHTS FROM MY TRIP TO CONGO (DRC)
I am excited to share with you the highlights of my recent trip to Congo (DRC) from February 17th to 26th. Despite the tumultuous backdrop of escalating violence and political instability there, particularly in the latter months of 2023, there exists a resilient and transformative movement. Amidst national anxieties over impending elections and the humanitarian crises underscored by a spike in civilian casualties and a record number of internally displaced people, a narrative of hope and progress championed by Biblical Entrepreneurs and Christian educators persisted.
The international focus often narrows on the DRC’s conflicts, especially the war in its eastern regions that is fueled by land disputes and external influences. However, my recent visit to the DRC unveiled a contrasting reality. I saw a vibrant community of businesses, churches, and individuals ardently striving to fulfill their potential and God’s vision for their lives.
SOURCE DE VIE
I was honored to be hosted by Maman Marie Mvidia Kaninda alongside her son Johnathan and daughter-in-law, who are pioneering change through their foundation, Source de Vie (Source of Life). This initiative has birthed a network of schools, including one offering free education in rural areas, aimed at nurturing a generation marked by integrity and competence. Their operation, employing over 100 teachers and serving more than 2000 students, stands as a testament to their commitment and vision.
ELEVATION COLLEGE
Another remarkable example is Pastor Gabriel Oleko’s Elevation College, which was founded roughly five years ago following his Biblical Entrepreneurship training. His journey from devising a Kingdom Business plan to raising capital for land acquisition and the construction of a state-of-the-art educational facility is inspirational. Today, the school boasts over 250 students and is supported by 22 teachers and staff.
Why do these Nehemiah E- Community members, among others, strive to build Kingdom companies amidst the war and economic challenges?
The answer lies in God’s calling for their lives. This calling enables them to look beyond the immediate crisis and discern opportunities for lasting impact. Given that the average age in Africa is 19, indicating a predominantly youthful population, the imperative to prepare the next generation is both urgent and profound. These Biblical Entrepreneurs embody the belief that investing in youth and education is pivotal for Africa’s future, demonstrating resilience, faith, and visionary leadership against a backdrop of adversity.
Their efforts not only provide essential services and education but also instill hope, offering a blueprint for sustainable development and spiritual growth. In the face of hardship, their work reminds us of the power of faith-based initiative and the potential for positive change, making a significant difference in the lives of many in the DRC.
These inspiring stories and impact, which change lives, are directly connected to your continued support. Thank you, and to God be the Glory!
Sent in love from your grateful and humble servant,
