November 2024: Bringing the Great Commission to the Marketplace

Commission
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9 (NIV)

The Nehemiah Entrepreneurship Community’s vision is to transform the marketplace with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ — one entrepreneur at a time. Our ultimate goal is to create a community of Kingdom Business Stewards who provide God-honoring products and services in a God-honoring way, contributing to the fulfillment of the Great Commission.

This vision is rooted in the Great Commission mandate, which calls us all to go into the world and preach the Gospel. At Nehemiah, we interpret this as a call to take the message of Christ into every sphere of influence we operate in, whether government, business, education, arts and entertainment, media, family, or church. Whatever our vocation, we are called to serve with the intention of leading others to Christ and discipling believers as the opportunity arises.

Since over 90% of the people we serve worldwide are already born-again believers, it is rare that we directly lead someone to Christ. However, when it happens, it is a moment of great celebration!

One such moment occurred recently during a coaching session with one of our members, Arthur Veille, the owner of Arthur’s Automobile — a three-location auto repair shop in Portland, Oregon, operating under the tagline “The Last Honest Mechanic.”

Arthur’s father started the shop in 2006, but it remained a single-location business until Arthur took over when his father fell ill. Thrust into the responsibility of running the business on his own, Arthur worked tirelessly to stabilize the shop and expand it to three locations.

Arthur joined Nehemiah as a Diamond-level E-Community Member earlier this year after attending the Nehemiah Business Life Cycle Course. His shop was already profitable, but when asked what success looked like for him in the next 12 months, Arthur replied, “To get to know the Lord and learn how to incorporate biblical principles into my business.”

Arthur did not grow up in a Christian home, but his curiosity about faith began after hearing a preacher at a coaching group for mechanics. Determined to learn more about integrating faith into business, he sought out Nehemiah.

After just three months of coaching, during a session discussing his company’s corporate values, Arthur was asked if he was ready to make Christ his Lord and Savior. His answer was yes. His coach led him in a statement of faith and prayer, where he confessed his sins and committed his life to Christ.

Arthur is now a born-again believer, looking for a church home. He even serves on the board of a Christian ministry outreach to the homeless. Not only is his business thriving, but his life is also being transformed by his faith in Christ.

This story, and miracles like it, are made possible through your financial support. When you support the Nehemiah Entrepreneurship Community, you enable us to work with entrepreneurs like Arthur who seek to integrate faith into their businesses.

As we approach the giving season, please consider making an end-of-year gift to help us accelerate our vision of bringing the Great Commission to the marketplace by equipping entrepreneurs like Arthur and building a thriving community for God’s glory. Our goal is to raise $100K by December 31st, 2024.

Thank you for your continued generosity and prayers. We look forward to sharing more updates as we continue this journey together.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving with your family and friends.
