What If You Lose Your Good Government Job? - Nehemiah Entrepreneurship Community

What If You Lose Your Good Government Job?

lose
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. – Romans 8:28 (NKJV)

I am a Tesla-driving conservative, an entrepreneur leading the Nehemiah Entrepreneurship Community, and the founder of Smart Oregon Solutions, a renewable energy company. I deeply admire Elon Musk for his innovation and business acumen, but I strongly disapprove of how he handled the firing of government employees.

Forget politicshow people are hired, managed, and fired matters, whether in government, the private sector, non-profits, or churches. Honor and dignity should be at the center of leadership. If Musk were in my Biblical Entrepreneurship class, he would fail, and if I were his business coach, he’d be fired.

I’ve never worked for the government, nor do I plan to, but I respect and admire civil servants. Yes, government agencies can be inefficient at times, and some individuals may lack common sense, but these people—like those in non-profits—often forgo lucrative private-sector opportunities to serve their country. Their commitment should not be dishonored just to score political points, regardless of their political affiliation.

Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men, knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free. And you, masters, do the same things to them, giving up threatening, knowing that your own Master also is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him.
– Ephesians 6:5-9 (NKJV)

“Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”
– Matthew 7:12 (NKJV)

Masters, give your bondservants what is just and fair, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.
– Colossians 4:1 (NKJV)

Having said that, we all agree that our government is too big and inefficient. We are facing economic uncertainty and potential inflation, and painful decisions must be made to restore fiscal responsibility. But it’s not just about what we do—it’s about how we do it!

In Part 2 of this blog, I will share my perspective on how these job cuts could have been handled differently, with honor and dignity, while still achieving the same objectives.

Consider Starting Your Own Business!

“Of course, you’d say that—you’re a Kingdom business trainer and coach!”

Yes, but I truly believe that entrepreneurship is a path worth considering so that you are no longer at the mercy of someone else’s decisions. That said, starting a business is not for everyone.
