Over the last few weeks, Take a Breathe hosts: Wendie Klem and Debra Schlaht have been discussing the characteristics of the Proverbs 31 woman and how we can learn from her example to become a modern Proverbs 31 woman.Â
This week, however, Wendie and Debra have a real-life Proverbs 31 woman on the show! The energetic and kind-spirited Shelli Zan is a creator, writer, and founder of the Impact Over Influence Ministry. She joins Wendie and Debra to chat about how we can practically become the modern Proverbs 31 woman.
Shelli Zan is a wife, mother of two, and a successful entrepreneur who, like the Proverbs 31 woman, is not shelving her talents but rather using them to share God’s word.Â
The Making of a Modern Proverbs 31 Woman
Shelli acknowledges that it is not easy to balance between having a successful career, being a present mother and wife, and managing to do God’s work. However, she has had success in all three areas by following some key principles:
Seek God Every Day
We all have our own idea of what falling into place means. For some, it may be getting that dream job or promotion. For others, it may be finding the perfect partner or starting a family. But no matter what our individual definition is, we all crave the feeling of stability and security that comes with having our life in order.Â
When we make a conscious effort to connect with the divine, we align ourselves with His will and purpose for our lives. The pieces that once seemed so scattered begin to fit together perfectly. It becomes easier to see the bigger picture and to trust that everything happens for a reason.
Allow People to Help You
God has placed people in our lives to help us fulfill our purpose. It is okay to accept help from others, be it your family, friends, or employees. Let go of the need to do everything yourself and allow God to work through His people to help you achieve your goals.
Have Confidence in Yourself and God
The divine purpose for your life is unique to you. No one else can fulfill it but you. So trust in yourself and trust in God. He will give you the strength, wisdom, and courage to accomplish all He has set before you.
“…being confident allows you to be able to serve in ways that you never thought you could because you know that you’re anchored in Him and whatever He’s called you to do, you can’t mess it up…” Shelli says.
Be Committed
Being committed to something can be hard. It’s easy to start something with good intentions, but it’s not always easy to see it through to the end. There will be days when you don’t feel like showing up, but it’s important to push through and continue doing what you said you would.Â
The Proverbs 31 woman is a great example of someone who was committed to her responsibilities, even on the days when she didn’t feel like it.
Because of her commitment, she achieved great things and was blessed by God. When you are facing a difficult situation, remember that commitment is an essential part of success.Â
Push through and continue doing what you said you would, even when it’s hard. That’s what it takes to become a modern Proverbs 31 woman.
