As a Man Hears – The Power of Sound
WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL BY PATRICE TSAGUE
Did you know that what you hear has a profound effect on who you are?
What are you listening to?
And what are you telling yourself?
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. – Romans 10:17 (NKJV) |
As a Man Hears – The Power of Sound
Hearing is the ability to perceive sound, which is essential to building our faith.
When we hear a sound with our ears, it is processed and interpreted by our brain, which then directs the body to take action. While the action may not always be immediate, the things that we hear, and particularly those that we deliberately choose to listen to, will shape our worldview as they provide us with information for us to act upon.
What are you listening to? What are you hearing? As our actions are influenced by what we hear, if you are not satisfied with the current state of your business or your life, then you should re-evaluate who and what you have been listening to. Your current state is greatly influenced by what you have been listening to.
Spoken words have great power. God created the heavens and the earth and everything in them through the power of His spoken words (Genesis 1:3-27). Jesus spoke the Word of God and healed the sick (Psalm 107:20). Most of His miracles were manifested through words. Words have the power to create, to heal, and to build up our faith. “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).
How is your faith being built?
Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). It is a conviction of things that you have not yet seen or experienced, because of your firm belief in the promises of God. Your faith is essential to your success as a Biblical Entrepreneur, for without faith, you cannot please God (Hebrews 11:6). And although the building of our faith requires action, it begins with the words you expose yourself to.
Use these 7 Keys to build your faith according to what you hear :
- Listen to the word of God
- Listen to words of encouragement
- Listen to that which is consistent with God’s promises for your life
- Listen to words of correction
- Listen to the sounds of praise and worship
- Avoid listening to gossip
- Avoid listening to criticism
Are you satisfied with where you are in your life? Are you satisfied with where your business is? What have you been listening to? What are you telling yourself?
The state of our lives and our business is greatly influenced by the words we have exposed ourselves to, and the words we speak to ourselves.
My prayer for you today is that God will give you the wisdom and discipline to embrace words of faith and life and to block words of unbelief and death, so you may fully realize His purpose and plan in the marketplace.
