{"id":7241,"date":"2019-09-23T03:00:58","date_gmt":"2019-09-23T10:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nehemiah.pivotdev.com\/?p=7241"},"modified":"2020-03-16T23:20:32","modified_gmt":"2020-03-17T06:20:32","slug":"the-fall-of-babylon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nehemiahecommunity.com\/members\/devotionals\/the-fall-of-babylon\/","title":{"rendered":"The Fall of Babylon","gt_translate_keys":[{"key":"rendered","format":"text"}]},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-background has-very-light-gray-background-color\"><em>\u201cAnd he cried out with a loud voice saying Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird!\u201d<\/em> \u2013 <strong>Revelation 18:2 (NKJV)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b><\/b>How are you operating your business? Are you using the Babylonian ways or the ways of God? Can you discern the Babylonian ways?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Babylon, an ancient city in the Old Testament between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, was the capital of the Babylonian Empire. It is one of the oldest cities in the ancient world. It was founded by Nimrod, a descendant of Noah through Ham, and known as a great and mighty hunter in the eyes of the Lord (Gen. 10:9). Nimrod led the people to build a tower \u201cwhose top may reach unto heaven.\u201d (Gen.11:1-9), as a result, God confounded their languages because of their arrogance and rebellion against Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indeed, Babylon became known for worshiping false gods, its power, wealth, extravagance and cruelty. It destroyed Jerusalem and deported the citizens of Judah, a sequence of events Jeremiah predicted \u2013 along with the fall of Babylon. Babylon became a symbol of the confusion caused by godlessness \u2013 a symbol of a nation that turned its back on God, turning the nations of the world with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cAnd another angel followed, saying Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.\u201d<\/em> \u2013<strong> Rev 14:8 (NKJV)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cFor all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 <strong>Rev 18:3 (NKJV)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This nation brought to prominence many kings of the earth; rewarding many businessmen and women with riches and wealth. It birthed a way of life that is full of excess. It has rejected God and has promoted products and services that do not glorify God. It has also promoted lifestyles inconsistent with the Word of God. This nation is predicted to suffer under the wrath of God because of its defiance and rebellion against our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. When it falls, those who have benefited from her will stand at a distance because they will not want to go down with her, they will cry because they stand to lose a great deal by her downfall, they will be shocked because \u201cin an hour\u201d its great riches will come to nothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Are you operating your business in Babylon? Can you discern between the Babylonian ways and the ways of God? Biblical Entrepreneurs must be discerning as they operate in the world (but not of the world) that they do not fall prey to the lust and greed of the Babylonian spirit. We must be salt and light in the world and not just blend into the system \u2013 otherwise, we will suffer the consequences of its downfall. We cannot be so determined to build the businesses that we buy into the Babylonian ways because the only sure consequence to that path is death and destruction, and the loss of our soul. Our commitment must be that it is better to have a little and be right with God rather than to have a lot and not be right with God. Pleasing Jesus is the most important thing in life\u2026everything else must be subject to that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>My prayer for you is that God will give you the discernment and conviction to reject the ways of Babylon and embrace the ways of the Kingdom.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false,"gt_translate_keys":[{"key":"rendered","format":"html"}]},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cAnd he
