WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey will not labor in vain, nor will they bear children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by the LORD, they and their descendants with them.\u201d \u2013 Isaiah 65:23<\/strong><\/a><\/em><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

You might want to take a second look at this promise from Scripture. Are you worried about your children or a wayward child? This is a serious encouragement! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was desperate for this promise after my husband, and I divorced. It was an ugly divorce and unwanted by me. Our children were 13, 10, and 7 years old at that time, they were crushed. There was a devastating aftermath for a long time. I understand firsthand why God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16). He knows it breaks the heart of everyone involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One day during this very dark period in our lives, I was desperate. So desperate that I lay on the floor of my bedroom and bawled. I reached for my Bible for some comfort. I don\u2019t remember how I opened it up exactly to this Scripture. All I know is I don\u2019t recall having ever read this particular passage. I now believe the LORD was helping me, nudging me in the right direction. God is so good. He is a very real comfort in our times of need. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The promise that I wouldn\u2019t \u201cbear children doomed to misfortune\u201d jumped off the pages and comforted my broken heart for my children. From that day forward, I would pray and declare this Scripture over my children (and future grandchildren). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s been 13 years since that very dark hour in our lives. Even today, when I pray for my adult children, I still pray that promise for them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
