How do you define invention? What is your definition of innovation? Do you know the difference between the two? How did God introduce innovation to the earth in the Bible?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everyone can be an innovator but everyone cannot be an inventor. Innovation is man\u2019s ability to use his creativity for improvement or enhancement of an invention, process, or service. It is making things better.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Invention is the creation of something new using God\u2019s creation.<\/strong> To be an inventor, innovation is required, although innovation does not always lead to an invention. An example of how innovation and invention work together is found in Genesis Chapter 3. After man sinned, he recognized for the first time that he and his wife were naked and therefore needed something to clothe themselves. Ashamed of their nakedness, they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves, creating the first invention of clothes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 Genesis 3:7 (NKJV)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Invention is always born out of a need.<\/strong> This explains the common statement \u201cnecessity is the mother of invention.\u201d After God disciplined them for their sin, He had mercy on them and innovated their invention, creating something more durable and substantive by making their clothes out of animal skin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAlso for Adam and his wife, the Lord God made tunics of skin and clothed them.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 Genesis 3:21 (NKJV)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, this simple idea has evolved into various types of innovative clothing, such as: skirts, pants, dresses, t-shirts, jackets, suits, trousers, hats, etc. Biblical innovation is man\u2019s ability to tap into God\u2019s creation to enhance useful tools to be used by society.<\/strong> The innovation process is man using his creativity in a manner similar to God. Innovations have greatly improved our society in the areas of health, business, entertainment, transportation, agriculture, etc. Innovations enhance society and business. They improve existing products and services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You may not be able to invent but you can innovate.<\/strong> Consider how innovation can help you improve your current business, improve society or help you launch a new business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
