Kingdom Business and AI: Harnessing Innovation for Eternal Impact
A Kingdom business is a transformational enterprise that measures its success beyond the conventional triple bottom line of people, planet, and profit to include an eternal perspective. For Kingdom companies to truly be transformational, their leaders must embrace innovative technologies. Artificial Intelligence (AI) represents one such cutting-edge technology that Biblical Entrepreneurs should adopt to stay competitive.
AI, as defined by IBM, enables computers and machines to simulate human intelligence and problem-solving capabilities. This technology originated from the desire to understand brain functions and has evolved to use technology to mimic these functions. It reflects humanity’s divine mandate to create, as we are made in the image of God, endowed with the ability to subdue the earth and exercise dominion. AI represents one of the closest approximations to human capabilities within our technological creations, raising both significant opportunities and ethical concerns.
AI can be a powerful tool for Kingdom businesses, helping to automate routine tasks, enhance data analysis, and serve various staff functions, from virtual assistants to customer service roles. By integrating AI, businesses can reduce costs and increase efficiency, enabling them to focus more on their mission and less on operational complexities. As with any technology, AI has the potential to accelerate both good and evil, and the direction that it takes will depend significantly upon our stewardship of it. Scripture gives us the guidance that we need to be prayerful and wise in our approach to life, including in our handling of new technology.
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. – James 1:5-8 (NKJV) |
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. – 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) |
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV) |
“Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?” – Matthew 6:27 (NKJV) |
These Scriptures remind us that as Biblical Entrepreneurs, we are to approach AI – and all technology – not with fear, but with prayer, wisdom, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit to ensure these tools are used for God’s glory and the advancement of His Kingdom.
My prayer is that God will alleviate any fears you may have and grant you the wisdom to use AI wisely to enhance the productivity and efficiency of your business for a significant Kingdom impact.
