The Greatest End Times Sign

NEHEMIAH WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL

How should we respond to the Divine shaking currently affecting heaven and earth?
What remains steadfast when everything around us is being removed through testing?
What is the greatest end-times sign that the world should be looking for?

Hebrews 12:26-29 (NKJV)
whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.”  Now this, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire.

The Greatest End Times Sign

Hebrews 12:26-29 speaks about the times in which we are living.

There are a few key things to notice. Firstly, it is God who is doing the shaking. Because of the shaking, the enemy is being stirred, and his plans are being revealed. We must always remember that believers will have the ultimate victory. Secondly, there is something which cannot be shaken, that shall remain. What is it that cannot be shaken? Hebrews 12:28 tells us that we are receiving “a Kingdom which cannot be shaken.”

God allows the shaking because He loves us, and He loves our communities and our nations. He wants the attention of those within the ekklesia and those who are not yet believers.

The shaking that originates in Heaven grants us a Divine opportunity to examine everything that we have become accustomed to doing, and to readjust our lives as necessary to ensure that we are aligned with God’s end time purposes.

Through the shaking, through the testing, through the seeking, and through the resting, everything is being put into place for an unprecedented outpouring of the Spirit of God. At the same time, adversity will be used by God to bring His people, individually and collectively, to their knees in prayer.

For those who are not yet Christians, adversity will often lead to an openness to the existence of God, who is never sought, thought of, or believed in when everything is going well.

For Christians, persecution because of our faith should lead us to an Upper Room, all-or-nothing preparedness to follow Jesus regardless of the steepness of the cost. The original Book of Acts church was birthed in a time of political and military upheaval. Christians were persecuted severely, unto death, during this time. The moral depravity of those days has been unmatched in human history – until now.

Isaiah 33:6 is a key verse for the current times. It says, “Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, And the strength of salvation; the fear of the Lord is His treasure.” In other words, the wisdom and knowledge of God, dispensed through His servants whom He has placed strategically in positions of influence during the end times, will provide great guidance and stability in an unstable world being buffeted by the schemes of the enemy in the midst of Divine shaking.

In the midst of Divine shaking, God will reveal His Glory – and He will also reveal the greatest end times sign.

but indeed as I live, all the earth
will be filled with the glory of the Lord. –
Numbers 14:21 (AMP)

Each of us is called to continually abide in God’s Presence. As we do so, and as we position ourselves in the midst of every sphere, we BECOME the covering of Glory that was prophesied. (Also see Isaiah 11:9, Habakkuk 2:14)

Put another way, although the world does not know it, you and I are the major end time signs that they are waiting to see. (Isaiah 8:18; Romans 8:19)

God is waiting for the ripening and ultimate maturity of His “crop” – you and me. When “the grain ripens”, He puts in the sickle – meaning that His people – the church – bring in the end times harvest. This is why Christians must be effective ministers of the Gospel in every sphere.

“But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.” – Mark 4:29 (NKJV)
“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” – Matthew 24:14 (NKJV)

“This Gospel” i.e., the full Gospel of the Kingdom with signs and wonders following as preached by Jesus, is most effectively shared by mature believers – particularly in the more challenging nations where the Gospel is restricted and where Christians are persecuted for their faith. The Gospel of the Kingdom is all about the transformation of our nations from grassroots to Government – in other words, there is much to do before the return of the LORD.

As we are changed from Glory to Glory through our relationship with God, we become more effective for His Kingdom. We literally become the greatest end times sign as we reflect more of God’s Glory through our lives.

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. – 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV)

Let’s pray. Lord, in the midst of the shaking that is affecting the heavens and the earth, help me to receive Your unshakable Kingdom with reverence and godly fear. In this time of shaking, grant me wisdom and knowledge for stability. Transform me from glory to glory, so that I may be a mature, clear sign of Your holy presence in the midst of a broken world. In the Name of Jesus, we believe and pray. Amen.
