Journey to Freedom: Destiny
“But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life.” – Genesis. 45:5 (NKJV)
Do you know why God wants you to rise to greatness? Do you know your destiny? Do you understand why God created you
Most people go through life without a clear sense of purpose. They busy themselves with programs and activities without a clear sense of direction. There is no correlation between who they are and what they do. They just exist! There is no greater freedom than knowing why God created you. The why for everything you do. The gift of forgiveness is the revelation of your destiny which is God’s purpose and plan for your life. The reason why God elevates us to greatness is to fulfill our destiny.
After Joseph forgave his brothers who sold him into slavery, he had complete clarity as to why God allowed him to go through the pit, slavery, and the prison. He understood the reason for his struggle and why he was made Governor of Egypt. He declared to his brothers in Genesis 45:5 – “But now, do not, therefore, be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life.
Joseph understood that his struggle had a purpose. It was to prepare and guide him towards his destiny and his rise to greatness was to enable him to fulfill his destiny. His destiny was to save his family and preserve the lineage of Jesus Christ who would save the world from sin and reconcile humanity with God. No matter how great your struggle and how difficult your trials, God is using it to guide you towards your destiny and prepare you to realize your ultimate purpose. The more difficult the journey, the greater the call upon your life.
Look at the life of any man or woman that achieved great things and you will see a journey with difficulties. No one is exempt, that is the only path to freedom. What is your destiny? Why has God allowed you to go through struggles? Why has he brought you out of the struggles and elevated you to greatness?
In order to get a clear sense of destiny, it is important to understand that your destiny is not what you do. It is not your career or your job. It is not your business or profession nor your title. It is why you were created? Your raison d’etre. This is freedom. Knowing why God created me and living it out. Here is a guide from Identity and Destiny by Tom and Pam Wolf, a course that we offer through the Nehemiah Project to help you discover your destiny.
Going through these seven steps will help you make sense of it all.

- What’s my passion? The thing that excites me the most.
- What is stopping me? My fears, blocks, and limited belief.
- Can I hear God speaking? A commitment to prayer.
- Can I be still and listen? A commitment to journaling what God is saying.
- Why am I here? Write down your purpose statement.
No matter where you are in your journey, know that God is with you and as long as you do not give up, He will not give up on you. Freedom is one of the greatest gifts that God gave man and it is worth pursuing at all costs so do not give up, press forward, and persevere until you are truly free.
My prayer for you today is that God will give you the grace to realize your destiny and the courage to pursue it with everything within you. Next Week’s
