Written Monday evening 4.6.15:
Sitting in Church of the Highlands on Palm Sunday – my daughter and her husband by my side – seemed a much needed place of peace and rest.
The Holy Spirit’s presence was palpable.
We praised and worshiped.
Let the tears flow.
Felt our hearts being comforted.
The journey of battling my daughter’s breast cancer began last October.
Yet, seems so much longer!
Yes…we all needed some peace and rest.
Just days before we learned that all those horrific rounds of chemo had little effect.
Cancer remains.
Next…another PET scan.
The question looming?
Has it spread beyond the initial site and lymph nodes?
Yet in the midst of it all – my daughter’s faith has not just stayed strong…
but grown by leaps and bounds.
Grown in ways I did not know possible for a 28 year old who wasn’t saved until her Junior year in college.
And now – through the eyes of a Mom – it seems she has had so little time to mature in her faith and be prepared for a test like this?
Can she handle it?
Can I?
Can any of us who love her?
Together we persevere,
And what a witness of strength and faith she has become for all of us.
She is so sure of God and his promises that her mantra has become “I win – No matter what, I win!”
Philippians 1:21 (AMP)
21 For me to live is Christ [His life in me], and to die is gain [the gain of the glory of eternity].
As we have traveled this treacherous road – she and I have often found ourselves smiling as we hear people say, “God will only give you what you can handle.”
We know better.
We know they mean well.
But now – we know better!
In fact…I don’t think that’s even Biblical???
I believe there are times when God does – in his absolute sovereignty – give us far more than we can handle!
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (ESV)
9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
He knows – for those who love and trust him – our weakness, trials and temptations will cause us to draw near to him for the strength we need. To grow deeper in the love relationship he so greatly desires. To allow him to touch us in our most vulnerable and tender places.
So, we draw near to a God – knowing without a doubt – that He draws near to us and our hearts that feel so broken.
He is the one who tends to our wounds and reassures us he is tending to the wounds that cancer is inflicting on Amanda’s body. He is the great physician…healer… and Lord over all things!
Written Wednesday morning 4.8.15
The PET scan was yesterday…and by 5PM the doctor had called with GOOD NEWS!
Even though there was a lot of active cancer remaining in the mass and nodes removed at surgery – Amanda’s scan is clear!
With IBC – this rare and aggressive form of breast cancer – only God could hold his hand of protection against distant metastasis elsewhere in her body!
As my sweet friend and prayer warrior, Grace Blake, text to me last night,
“Amanda’s rescue we have been so strenuously praying for is happening – let’s celebrate God’s amazing, beyond-all-comprehension, wildly-more-than-you-could have excepted rescue operation for Amanda!”
AMEN!!!
As I continue to praise and give thanks – I ask you to consider these questions:
- Why do you think it takes the valleys and trials for us to seek The Lord most intimately?
- Why do you think our faith is only grown to its deepest point through the difficulties of our lives?
- Why do we often take the blessing of our days and the powerful love of our Lord for granted?
DON’T WAIT.
TODAY IS PRECIOUS.
REJOICE – BE GLAD – AND SHARE THE MERCY, POWER AND LOVE OF JESUS WHENEVER AND WHEREVER GOD OPENS THE DOOR!
He already knows we can’t handle all life’s going to throw at us…
BUT HE CAN!
And He is waiting with open arms to welcome all who will turn to him and believe.
Amen!

Wonderful news! This is such a great reminder! Praying for Amanda and the family.

Amen…Amen…and Amen.
I receive this word of Truth!
I give all glory to God for His never-ending love and faithfulness to your family. I rejoice with you on this recovery and also empathize with you at the pain you must have gone through as a mother. One tool God has given us is the power of the tongue to prophesy our preferred reality over ourselves in alignment with the scriptures. Therefore, this attack is not “my daughter’s breast cancer”. She does not own it. It is a cancer of the breast that has been defeated over 2000 years ago. Daily remind the cancer it has been defeated and has no right to be in her body. Command it to leave and speak to every part of her body, calling the part by name to be restored and aligned to the original plan of God for her life. Death at this age is not an option. So i decree and declare that, “your daughter shall not die but live to declare the glory of the Lord and with long life has He satisfied her and shown her His salvation”. I speak from experience. Jesus never fails. The battle is the Lord’s and not yours. just sit back and enjoy the victory in faith. Remain blessed in Jesus name.
