“Destiny is a decision. It takes more than dreams and desire – it requires ACTION!”
I & D Success Coaches, Tom and Pam Wolf
My Dad died very suddenly, and although I don’t remember his last words exactly — I do remember how they made me feel. Even though I was only 24, he had made me feel like I was special — that I had what it takes to be successful. And over time, I was able to bring back more and more of the wisdom he had so often shared. What a treasure to have these words to guide my choices and decisions as I walked out the many challenges and changes the weeks and months would bring. In the recesses of my mind, I held tightly to phrases like:
- “Dare to dream. Big success begins with big dreams.”
- “You can do anything, Pam — you’ve got what it takes.”
- “I’ve known since you were a little girl — you were born to lead.”
- “As a leader, you must measure your success through the success of those you lead.”
And the list goes on and on…but WOW…I am blessed again just writing these words!
Now, I know not everyone has received such a blessing, but the good news is this…whether you’ve – been lucky enough to receive words of affirmation from your earthly father (and many of us have not), there is one Father who is always there to provide the wisdom and solace you need. He provides- greater confirmation — greater encouragement and greater guidance. He is your heavenly Father – your abba Father — your Daddy who is always there!!!
I assure you, no earthly wisdom can ever compare!
Last week, I asked you to share the words of those here on earth who have blessed you with their wisdom, but this week, I want you to think about the words of Scripture. What verses do you go back to most often? What Scripture have you memorized? That’s God speaking wisdom. It is His way of helping you do life His way and avoid a lot of painful mistakes. It is His path to all the blessing He has waiting — just for you!
So…what has your heavenly Father said to you lately through His Word? Have no doubt there will be someone reading your post that really needs to hear that word. That’s how God works!
Bless someone today by sharing God’s word!
Next week…I’ll be back in 1 Chronicles with the 8 Principles to Live a Blessed Life. See you then.
Pam,
Thank you for sharing your story. My father died suddenly of a heart attack when I was 19 years old and a sophomore in college. Your posting brings back memories of what a good and hard-working man he was. His affirmation of me throughout my life with him continues to be a source of support even though it has been many years since his death. How blessed I am to have been his child! And, I believe this about my Heavenly Father: How blessed I am to be His child! In my daily readings over the past several days, I have been especially touched by the stories in Genesis of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob – their strange and wonderful journeys as fathers.God has indeed blessed all the nations of this world through their faithfulness (for example, as it says in Genesis 22:18). Because Christ was the fulfillment of their obedience, we can truly live blessed, enriched lives. Thank you, Pam for your sharings! Joyfully in Christ, Lesley
Thank you Lesley for sharing your story and your insights. I am so blessed to be getting to know you through I & D – Happy New Year and I look forward to connecting again soon!
