“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.” – Matthew 5:14 (NKJV)
Last week we made waves in the global marketplace for the kingdom at Nehemiah Week 2019 in Washington, DC! Over 100 kingdom business leaders and Biblical Entrepreneurs from across the world met together to study innovation in all areas of business. Take a look at a few highlights over the week.
Over 60 people joined us on Monday for our Kingdom Business Tour of the DC Dream Center, Coca-Cola Consolidated, Yakabod, and Kelly and Associates, Inc. to hear about how these companies uphold their faith-based values in their daily business practices.
Our Biblical Entrepreneurship Conference was held Tuesday – Thursday at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. From morning devotional sessions, to morning and afternoon sessions with business giants in areas of finance, technology, ministry, and more, our guests were filled with knowledge to take home and practical instructions on how to innovate their businesses.
During the week we also hosted our Regional Business Plan Competition where competitors battled for the final seat to represent their countries and regions at our International Business Plan Competition. The competitors gave it all that they could, but only three were selected to move forward, Rakotoarivelo Vonjilala Rado (from Madagascar), Claudy-Hervé Kizunza (from France), and Jean Rubin Telusma (from Haiti).
These three competitors took the stage on Friday at the International Business Plan Competition alongside fellow competitors Ana Maria Lowry (from the United States) and Yamil Rosales (from Mexico) to present their business plans in front of an audience of their peers, Country Directors, Regional Directors, and supporters. The 2018 International Business Plan Winner, Andrii Solodovynk, gave an inspiring update to the competitors and our audience on the success that his business has seen in the past year.
In addition to our BE Conference events, we honored those who have stood beside the Nehemiah Project over the years as pioneers and partners during the Nehemiah Awards Luncheon. We also took our events outside of our host hotel and traveled to the Museum of the Bible for an experience like none other.
At our finale Celebration Dinner, we heard from our keynote speaker, Tom Mears, in an intimate interview hosted by Jennifer Brewer on the meaning and impact of “Serve with Love.” Patrice and Gina Tsague thanked a room of peers for their endless support over the past 20 years and their continued support to helping us to reach our 100K job creation in 10 years initiative before 2029.
Lastly, the 2019 International Business Plan Competition winner was unveiled at the conclusion of our Celebration Banquet and Yamil Rosales, owner of Sound City in Mexico City, was presented with the winning trophy and prize.
There are many more memories from this year’s Nehemiah Week that we can share. We praise God for a phenomenal week of innovation, fellowship, networking, and growth. In looking ahead, we are already excited to prepare for what next year will bring with Nehemiah Week 2020 in Mexico City.
